Temporäre Kunsthalle Berlin, 2010 - 2011

Geladener Wettbewerb zur Kunstausstellung „Based in Berlin“, ausgelobt durch die Stadt Berlin. Aufgabenstellung ist der Entwurf einer temporären Ausstellungshalle für eine unbekannte Anzahl von Kunstwerken, unbekannter Medien und Größen. Unser Vorschlag ist die Anmietung von etwa 25 billigen, temporären Strukturen und Raumeinheiten wie Zelte, Bauwagen, Container etc. (Readymades). Diese sind – um dem geforderten Raumangebot gerecht zu werden – möglichst unterschiedlich in Material und Abmessungen. Fassade, Dächer und Innenwände sind immer weiß, Böden „kunsthallengrau“ und verfügen über je einen Ein- und Ausgang. Die Bausteine können selbständig entlang eines späteren kuratorischen Konzepts zu verschiedensten Raumorganisationen kombiniert werden.

Invited competition entry for the art exhibition “Based in Berlin”, hosted by the city of Berlin. The brief was to design a temporary exhibition hall for an unknown number of artworks, of unknown media and sizes. Our proposal was to hire around 25 low-cost temporary structures and room units, such as tents, construction trailers, containers, etc. (readymades). They should be as diverse as possible in terms of material and dimensions, in order to meet the spatial requirements. The façades, roofs and interior walls should always be white in colour, the floors “art gallery grey” and each unit should have both an entrance and an exit. The modules can be combined independently and in a variety of ways according to a later curatorial approach.
